The Seelie and Unseelie Courts are age old enemies, who finally came together to form a peace treaty. The treaty was sealed with the marriage of a young Seelie noblewoman Elnisreth to an Unseelie nobleman Kalel, and the two became the King and Queen of the Seelie land of Nemaria. The husband seemed kind and loving, but unbeknownst to her, he was involved in a plot with the Unseelie elders and the Demon King Thyis to destroy Nemaria. The queen was eight months pregnant when the plot was put into action, and she gave birth in secret, prematurely and attended only by a single servant, while demons rampaged through her beloved country. To protect her royal daughter from a lifetime of suffering, or from becoming as heartless as her father, the Queen bid her maid to flee with the child, and raise her in secret far from Nemaria. When the King learned that the queen had hidden his daughter from him, he threw her in the dungeon, where she realized she must pretend to submit, or risk losing her country and her child forever.
There are those that still fight the good fight. The Freedom Fighters are trying to find evidence that Kalel betrayed Elnisreth and the Seelie Court in order to bring the King to justice. Once they have the proof they need, the Seelie Court will intervene and drive the Demons back to whence they came, annul the marriage between Kalel and Elnisreth, and dissolve the treaty.
